
Dr. Rosen received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, in 1960. His internship was at the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and his residency training in neurology, from 1961 to 1964, was as Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Rosen served two years active duty in the Navy, rising to the rank of LCDR and was Chief of Neurology for the Third Naval District.
In 1966, Dr. Rosen joined the faculty of the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, as an assistant professor of neurology. In 1973, he was recruited to the faculty of the State University of New York at Stony Brook as an associate professor of neurology and director of neurology. Simultaneously he served as Chief of Neurology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Northport, New York. In 1980, Dr. Rosen was promoted to Professor of Neurology at Stony Brook. While at Stony Brook, he developed their neurology residency training program and was its director from 1975 to 1985. In addition, he was a senior attending at the University Hospital. In 1998, Dr. Rosen joined the faculty at Purdue University as Professor of Biological Sciences. At that time he was awarded Professor Emeritus status at Stony Brook. He was also appointed Clinical Professor of Neurology at Indiana University School of Medicine in 1998.
At Purdue, Dr. Rosen teaches neurobiology to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as physiology to I.U. medical students. Dr. Rosen is also the neurological consultant for the Purdue University Sudent Health Center.
Dr. Rosen is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN-N). He has published extensively in the scientific literature, predominantly in the basic neural sciences but also in the areas of epilepsy and multiple sclerosis.
